Hi, I’m Heather
A photographer living and working in Detroit.
I photograph weddings because I believe that love, in its truest form, deserves to be remembered. Not just the love between couples, but the love between communities.
There is something sacred about the way people come together on a wedding day, and it’s an honor to witness these stories that shape us.
I also come from the world of standup comedy, so I understand the value of joy and the way that laughter can lighten even the most tense moments.
That balance of heart and humor guides how I move through a wedding day. I want my couples to feel cared for, understood, and free to be fully themselves, knowing their story will be documented with the perfect balance of levity and sincerity.
My style & approach
Honed over 20+ years behind the lens.
I photographed my first wedding when I was just 18, and 20 years later, I’m still hooked. My photography lives where fine-art and documentary storytelling meet: honest moments that feel like memory itself: refined but relaxed, artful but deeply personal, the kind that will matter just as much in fifty years as they do the moment you receive them.
My approach is rooted in presence rather than orchestration. I watch for the quiet in-betweens: the way your dad straightens his tie before seeing you, the deep breath before the doors open, the hand squeeze no one else notices. Those are the photographs that matter most, not because they’re perfect, but because they’re true.
Saying I do in Detroit means celebrating in a city rich with history, heart, and an endless backdrop of beauty. As someone who lives here, I appreciate these spaces as more than a photographer. I appreciate them as a neighbor who knows their rhythm and their charm. From the city’s iconic venues to its quiet side streets (where the light falls just right) I know how to move through the city with ease, where to find the calm pockets on busy days, and how to make the architecture and energy of Detroit sing in your story.
Whether we’re stepping into an art deco masterpiece for portraits or chasing golden hour down an alley, I will guide you through the places that make this city unforgettable. Detroit is home. It’s a living and breathing part of my daily life and an endless source of my inspiration and I feel so lucky to be able to live and work in a city that refuses to stop reinventing itself.
